Alps is a land of castles which guard the mountain valleys, and the palaces of kings and emperors.

In the Alps there is a lot of them. This site presents those that can be visited. Does not provide those who serve as private residences and are not open to the public.

Castle of XVI c. The peculiarities of the castle are the round tower, bastilles, and a renaissance defence hall in a shape of triangle, one of the oldest of the kind in the whole Central Europe. The most famous lord of Turjak was Andrej of Turjak. He lead an army that defeated Turks at Sisak in 1593. In a memory of this battle, knight games are organized at Turjak every year.
